Lawrence Burns, 79, was born on December 6, 1937 in Springhill, AL to Roy Burns and Leo Robinson, and departed this life for his eternal home on Wednesday, May 10, 2017. He grew up in Coffeeville, AL and moved to Saraland, AL in 1956. Lawrence was a longshoreman for over 40 years.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Jessie Sullivan (married on April 11, 1961, passed on Dec. 7, 1997); son, Gregory Burns (passed on Jan. 1, 1987); two sisters and a brother.

He is survived by his present wife, Olivette Burns, three sons, Anthony (Paretta), Rodney (Yolanda), and Calvin (Dionnio) Walker; three grandsons, Antione, Christopher, and Brandon; two great grandsons, Gregory and Brandon; two step children; and a host of nieces, nephews, loving family and friends.

His remains will lie in state on Friday, May 12, 2017 from 1- 8 p.m. at Small’s Mortuary, Mobile, AL . A visitation will be held on Saturday, May 13, 2017 from 9am until the 11am funeral hour at the Mt. Olive Baptist Church (Pastor Clarence Drakes), 27 Norton Avenue, Saraland, AL. Bishop Richard Curtis will offer the sermon.

Interment will follow in Rainey Cemetery, Coffeeville, AL.
