Obituary for Charlie James Stokes
Mr. Charlie J. "Candy" Stokes, a native of Uniontown, AL and resident of Mobile, AL for many years, exchanged life for eternity on Saturday, May 13, 2017. He was member of the ILA Local #1410 for over 65 years and a dedicated member of the Christian Union Primitive Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by parents, Howard Stokes and Maggie Henry; daughters, Dorothy Stokes-Edwards, Ella C. Brown; and one son-in-law, Ray A. Rigsby, Sr.
Bro. Stokes leaves to cherish his memories a devoted wife, Clara Hollinger Stokes; children, Donald (Margaret) Fountain, Sr., Vincent Stokes and Mary Rigsby ; devoted caregivers, Carl and Vanessa Kemp; also a host of loving family and friends.
His remains will lie in state 5-8pm Friday, May 19, 2017 at Small’s Mortuary, Mobile. A visitation will be held on Saturday, May 20, 2017 from 9am until the 11am funeral hour at the Christian Union Primitive BC, 910 Mobile St., Mobile, AL. Interment will follow in the Pine Crest Cemetery, Mobile, AL.
